Gibbon, P. 1919. The Triumph of the Royal Navy : Official Record of the Surrender of the German Fleet. London: Hodder and Stoughton.

Note on this scanned version of Gibbon’s Triumph of the Royal Navy.
The purpose of presenting this low-quality facsimile of Gibbon’s documentary is to give a sense of the writer’s varied output. Pieter Williams’ Gibbon research files contained a colour copy of the front cover and black-and-white photocopies of the remaining 48 pages of the publication. I scanned the front cover on my first visit to Hermanus in 2011, and scanned the other pages which I had brought back to Durban in 2015. Unfortunately, the images on all the photocopied pages are of poor quality, although many are sufficiently clear to make interesting viewing. Pages 3 and 4 were particularly bad, but although the images are lost, the text is at least legible. Page 21 is missing altogether.
Should anyone reading this be able to source a better digital copy, I would be keen to link it to the website. Contact me via the website’s Comments box.
